Sales Manager – Capital/OEM Sales – Germany

Purpose of Role

David Brown Santasalo seeks to employ a Sales Engineer with gearing experience, to identify, explore and execute sales opportunities for the Capital/OEM business of industrial gearboxes, with existing and new prospects.

Key Accountabilities

  • To undertake market research into potential new customers to maximise our potential.
  • To visit new potential customers and generate enquiries and further opportunities as a result
  • To ensure that quotes offered are technically and commercially competitive and convert into profitable orders
  • To maximise the additional business opportunities with our existing customer base and maintain existing customer levels
  • To take full responsibility for the day to day account management and ownership of any existing or new customers in the region, following on from incoming enquiries, leads identified by the business development function and in some cases combined initial visits.
  • To leverage the David Brown Santasalo product range to create profitable business.
  • To act as the customer´s representative within the company
  • Resolve any customer related issues by working with the internal Management Team and ensure continuous improvement in customer management.
  • Ensuring you achieve KPI targets of, Customer visits, enquiries generated, quotes converted from enquiries, orders converted from quotes and net margin of orders.
  • Interface with other David Brown Santasalo regions to develop additional sales and intercompany opportunities.
  • To identify sales targets from liaison with the commercial team, internet research, installed base lists etc
  • To provide and maintain positive and active customer relationships to assure a favourable company image and brand
  • To plan and execute successful sales visits, leading to the selection/specification of David Brown Santasalo products by the prospective customers/markets;
  • To follow up on incoming enquiries to the business and proposals submitted, and their conversion into profitable orders that meet David Brown Santasalo business development strategy.
  • To resolve terms and conditions queries with the proposals or legal team.
  • To produce and deliver budgets and sales forecasts from these activities to assist in your own and the businesses planning needs.
  • Determine the sales opportunity values and timescales for qualified prospects
  • Ensure customer site visits are planned correctly and effectively to maximise time and opportunity’s.
  • To advise the Management Team of the effective actions arising out of customer visits, reporting on sales activities and results, via the submission of customer contact/market reports and verbal reports.

Knowledge and Experience

The successful candidate will need to have an understanding, appreciation and experience of selling highly engineered products (ideally gearboxes) for the Central Europe market, Germany in particular but not limited to (Austria, Holland, Eastern Europe) They will need an awareness of the current market intelligence within this field and a network of customer contacts for OEM’s within the industries specified. The candidate should be able to successfully demonstrate previous examples of developing both new and existing customers.
