Buyer/Planner - USA

Our fully equipped Industrial Gear service center in Greer, SC provides expert gearbox services across the USA. The facility includes crane capacity up to 60 tons, an integrated machine shop, engineering center and a spare parts department. Climate controlled assembly clean rooms ensure gearboxes are particle-free when returned to the field.

Job Summary

Successful candidate will be responsible to purchase materials and equipment required by the company at the optimum quality and price to meet operational and customer requirements.

Essential Functions

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Efficiently quote materials and services from internal & external sources
• Negotiate the purchase of materials and equipment required by the company, ensuring that these meet specifications and can be delivered at the correct time at the most favorable prices.
• Monitor purchase orders
• Maintain up-to-date list of contractors and pricing arrangements to ensure that the company achieves the most favorable commercial terms
• Monitor the performance of suppliers and products
• Maintain awareness of quantities of stock, materials and equipment to ensure that shortages are avoided
• Report any significant supply problems to ensure that departments are kept aware of any potential difficulties
• Work with local suppliers on automatic replenishments
• Monthly inventory updates

Job Requirements and Qualifications

• An appropriate purchasing qualification
• At least 3 years experience in the purchasing function
• Thorough knowledge of company mechanical products
• Excellent negotiating skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Excellent communication skills
• Well organized / detail oriented

The position requires a high attention to detail. Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills are a must.
