David Brown Defence announces acquisition by RENK Group AG
David Brown Defence, part of David Brown Santasalo group, is delighted to announce that RENK Group AG is to acquire the business. This strategic acquisition marks a significant and positive step forward, supporting David Brown Defence’s future growth across its defence applications.
Based in Huddersfield, UK, David Brown Defence has over 100 years of experience in the development and manufacturing of transmission systems for naval and land-based defence systems. David Brown Defence employs around 530 people and is ideally positioned as a key supplier to some of the most important armaments programs for the UK and allied armed forces.
David Brown Defence maintains a clear focus on defence markets, supported by a growing order book across both marine and land applications. In early 2024, The business went through a strategic realignment to enhance its capabilities at the Huddersfield site, ensuring continued delivery against increasing demand. The acquisition by RENK Group AG will further strengthen the company’s capabilities, resilience, and ability to support customers across the defence value chain.
The transaction is subject to the standard official approvals and is scheduled for completion in Q4 2026. Both parties have agreed not to disclose any information regarding the purchase price.
