DB Defence win Apprenticeship Award at the University of Huddersfield Apprenticeship Awards

We are delighted to share DB Defence has been awarded the School Business Education and Law, Large Employer of the Year Award at this year’s University of Huddersfield Apprenticeship Awards.
The University of Huddersfield commented, “This year’s awards are being issued to recognise and celebrate the excellent achievements of our apprentices and employer partners in 2025.”
In order to ensure a fair and transparent judging process, all applications were anonymised to ensure each application was judged on its own merit. A panel of five judges were appointed from across the university to review and score all of the awards applications, independently.
Leanne Crowther, Head of HR for DB Defence, along with Chris Londesbrough, Paul Wainwright and Paul Henry were invited to an Awards Ceremony at Huddersfield University on Friday 6th June where they were presented with the award from the University’s Vice-Chancellor.

“We are so proud to have received this award from the University of Huddersfield in recognition of our commitment to investing in our staff, today and in the future through our apprenticeship programmes. It was an honour to attend the ceremony and we would like to congratulate all the worthy winners from the day.”
Apprenticeships are an extremely important part of the recruitment process at DB Defence, as well as development opportunities for our current staff. We currently have 20 apprentices in our apprenticeship scheme at varying stages of their programmes. In 2023 and 2024, we extended our apprenticeship programmes to include Management apprenticeships as well as additional departments such as Design Engineering, Test and Development, Supply Chain and Quality. We look forward to welcoming the next intake of first year apprentices in September of this year, along with development for our future Managers.
