DBS deliver final phase of purpose-built state-of-the-art facility in Jyväskylä, Finland
David Brown Santasalo is pleased to announce the completion of the final phase of the construction works to our brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in Jyväskylä, Finland. The project, which has been one of the largest investments in a purpose-built facility for both DBS and the wider Finnish industrial gearbox market, commenced in late 2020 and has been delivered in two phases.
Phase 1 was completed in late 2021 and focussed on the manufacturing hall, with phase 2 being completed and delivered on target in late 2022. The second phase encompasses a service workshop, logistics, warehouse and assembly hall, and the transfer of all current manufacturing operations in Jyväskylä to the new plant has now been carried out.
The hard work of the project team in Finland has ensured the business could start 2023 with all operations located in the new factory, which spans almost 10,000m2. The new facility has created an integrated and efficient manufacturing setup of industrial gear units for the DBS Group.
Antti Haapaniemi, Project Manager for the new facility told us, “This has been an extremely rewarding and exciting time for the Finnish team. The hard work and dedication of all involved has ensured we delivered on time and to schedule. I would like to thank our project partners for their work in producing such an impressive build.”
Pekka Leskinen, Managing Director Finland said, “The creation of this production hub will benefit our customers both in Finland and globally, along with our internal supply chain, as we now have all capabilities under one roof. I am excited for this new phase and would like to thank the whole team for their efforts in delivering this project on time.”
The flagship facility also delivers another exciting step forward in creating sustainable buildings across David Brown Santasalo’s global business. It also complements their recent commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative, as this forward-thinking facility saves energy and reduces carbon emissions. Some of the unique benefits of the brand-new manufacturing facility include an electricity supply with an international EPD® climate neutral certificate that also complies with the ISO 14025 Type III standard, 100% hydro power electric energy supplied to the facility, air conditioning and ventilation which has been integrated with the heat recovery system, and much more.
