David Brown Santasalo raise money for local charity, Kirkwood Hospice

On Tuesday 18 April 2023, Jennie Paterson, Head of Marketing at David Brown Santasalo had the pleasure of attending the Kirkwood Hospice in Huddersfield, UK to present a cheque for the fantastic fundraising efforts of our UK team. The team members at our Huddersfield facility got together recently for a quintessentially British “Bake Sale” with the aim of raising money for a local charity. We were absolutely amazed at the efforts of the whole team, not only through their generous donations but for the time put into creating such delicious bakes! We raised an outstanding £677.29 from the sale with the proceeds going directly to the Kirkwood.

In order to decide on the charity, we asked our colleagues to cast a vote for who they would like to see the proceeds raised for and the Kirkwood Hospice was chosen by an overwhelming majority! The Kirkwood Hospice do so much amazing work in the local community, providing help and support to individuals and families coping with an illness along such a difficult journey. They provide specialist care, free of charge, to adults in Kirklees with advanced, progressive illnesses at any time from diagnosis through to end of life care, respecting their individual needs and wishes. Care and support is also provided for their family members, friends and carers, both during the illness and after death. Through education, training and partnership with others, they aim to improve care for everyone affected by a life limiting illness.

Jennie commented, “It was wonderful to see first-hand the great work they do at the Kirkwood to help patients and families. The grounds and gardens are clearly tended to with love and create such a calming environment for those that spend time there.
