David Brown Santasalo Canada refurbish two 18,000lbs Double Helical Gearboxes

06.08.2024

David Brown Santasalo’s (DBS) manufacturing facility in Montréal, Canada recently completed the refurbishment of two 18,000lbs gearboxes, consisting of Double Helical gears for one of our valued customers in the Iron Ore Mining industry. These particular gearboxes were originally redesigned by DBS with fabricated housings back in 2010.

The gearboxes were sent to DBS Montréal for routine maintenance, with both gearboxes requiring new bearings, seals, hardware and lube systems. The gears and pinions were then re-ground to AGMA 13 accuracy, followed by reassembly, spin test and vibration analysis to ensure the gearboxes were running to the highest of standards when back in operation on their mills.

“We have an expert gearbox team here in Canada, with our proficient dismantling and assembly teams, always striving for excellence, and specialised engineers always on hand. It’s fantastic to see the team working together to deliver two extremely impressive gearboxes to our Iron Ore industry customer, within their required timeframe.”
