DBS Finland welcomes the GIA-project to Jyväskylä facility
The team at our state-of-the-art facility in Jyväskylä, Finland recently welcomed representatives of Green Industrial Areas (GIA) project members to our forward thinking, sustainable building. The aim was to find out more about what makes our purpose built factory so advanced and set up to actively reduce our carbon footprint and impact on the environment!
Antti Haapaniemi, Operations Director for DBS Finland welcomed 30 people in total from across the Baltics (including Finland, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland) and gave them the lowdown on how we are closely monitoring greenhouse gas emissions at the facility, our SBTi journey to date and other CO2 themes. We shared how thanks to the use of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency improvements, we have reduced CO2 emissions by 90% compared to the old factory in Finland.
The time spent with our team in Finland was part of a wider visit, which was part of their GIA project, whereby they are creating a certification system for green industrial areas. Visiting various partners and holding workshops for those companies who are flying the flag for a more sustainable future.
Antti said, “It was an honour to welcome the GIA-project members to our new facility. The Foundation is doing exceptional work in cultivating important environmental conversations. We look forward to working with them on further workshops as they develop their certification system.”
